| April showers bring… um… May showers… or possibly snow, seeing as the storm gods have gotten into the really good mead and gone off on a bender of one-upmanship on the local precipitation.
Some notes on “the scene” – Wandering Gypsy Soul will be closing as the curator is focusing her creative interests. PiP gallery is changing its name to “Sea Change” and Art 323 is now “The Virtuoso Studios”. Sadly, Urban Wineworks has “closed due to economic conditions”.
How do I keep up with all of this? I would tell you if I knew.
No, I wouldn’t.
Neener,
[m ]
P.S. I just returned from Paris, so if you are offended by this color scheme, blame France. I know they gave us the Statue of Liberty, but what have they done for us lately?
P.P.S. I have a soft spot for Urban Wineworks. They are involved in a memory including my original social circle and waaaay to much Pinot Grigio a first Thursday long ago in a galaxy far, far away…

This month at Sequential Art Gallery
{328 NW Broadway #113}
“LADY PARTS” by Dylan Meconis & Erika Moen
[18 & Older Recommended, for content]
APRIL 2009; Opens APRIL 2nd, 6-10pm
Book Release Party, APRIL 25th, 5-8pm
Sequential Art Gallery proudly presents LADY PARTS, a joint show featuring brand new work by local-yet-world-renowned cartoonists Dylan Meconis and Erika Moen.
Inspired by Alison Bechdel’s “Dykes To Watch Out For” collection and the recent Prop 8 furor, Dylan Meconis will be presenting a series of whimsical cartoon portraits of imaginary lesbian couples, from the historical to the hysterical.
Erika Moen’s portion of the show combines her two greatest loves; sex toys and religious portraits of medieval women. The result is a playful combination of “Madonna with Child” and “The Ultra-Vibe 3000″.
Dylan Meconis is a member of Periscope Studio (a independent collective of comic book professionals), comics artist and writer in print and online, who is best known for history comics “Family Man” and “Bite Me!”
Erika Moen is the award winning cartoonist behind the webcomic “DAR: A Super Girly Top Secret Comic Diary.” Her work has been featured in “Flight,” “Best Erotic Comics,” “Good Vibrations Magazine” and many other publications.
LADY PARTS is one of the many art exhibitions celebrating Comic Book Month in Portland, OR. There will be an Artists’ Reception on First Thursday, April 2nd, from 6pm til 10pm. The gallery will also be open every Saturday, from 11am-5pm, and by appointment.
And on April 25th from 5pm-8pm, Sequential Art will host an evening reception/book release party for both Meconis and Moen, for their respective books, “Bite Me!” and “DAR: Volume One.”
Additionally, Sequential Art Gallery will be leading guided tours for attendees of the Stumptown Comics Fest on April 18th & 19th, which will include stops at the Portland Center for Performing Arts, Floating World Comics, Compound, Pony Club Gallery, Backspace, Vorpal Space, and Sequential Art.
