Sequential Art Gallery proudly presents “Where the Faces Shine”, an exhibition of sequential art and watercolour illustrations by Jung Hu Lee. The exhibition opens First Thursday, June 2nd, with an artist’s reception from 6pm to 10pm.
Lee is exhibiting pages of his most recent comic work “Where the Faces Shine”, which will premiere online for free in late 2016. In his own words, Lee describes his comic as a “…love letter to punk rock, martial arts, and Washington DC.” Also featured are watercolor illustrations depicting some of his favorite movie moments.
Lee, based from Rockville, Maryland, started making comics in 2007 while working as a substitute teacher, EMT recruit, TV production technician, and research assistant. He moved to Portland, Oregon in 2010 where he interned at Helioscope Studio (formerly Periscope Studio) and learned more about sequential art, European comics, and inking with a brush. Lee currently works at Oni Press and continues to make art.
Lee’s exhibit will be up throughout the month of June, with gallery hours on Mondays from 2pm-6pm, Saturdays from 11am-5pm, and by appointment. The exhibit will close at the end of business on Saturday, July 2nd.
