Periscope Studio: Original Work from a Comic Artist Collective

The Portland Center for the Performing Arts in conjunction with Sequential Art Gallery, have tapped the talents of Portland-based Periscope Studio for the latest exhibition at the PCPA Gallery, Periscope Studio: Original Works from a Comic Artist Collective.

The diverse sampling from 15 of Periscope’s artists will enliven the walls of PCPA’s lobby with action-packed comics through May 31, 2011. “PCPA is a big supporter of our local comic artists,” said Robyn Williams, Executive Director, PCPA. “Periscope’s unique kind of talent is exactly what the PCPA Gallery series aims to support, and we are thrilled to house this special show,” Williams added.

Periscope Studio is home to the artists of mega-hit comics such as Superman, Spiderman, Batman, and Boilerplate: A Victorian Robot. The studio has won widespread recognition as one of the industry’s most standout independent artist collectives. Periscope Studio: Original Works from a Comic Artist Collective will feature work by Aaron McConnell, Cat Farris, Dustin Weaver, Dylan Meconis, Erika Moen, Jesse Hamm, Jonathan Case, Karl Kesel, Paul Guinan, Natalie Nourigat, Rich Ellis, Ron Chan, Ron Randall, Susan Tardif and Terri Nelson.

Periscope Studio: Original Works from a Comic Artist Collective is open to the public for viewing Monday – Saturday, 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. An opening reception will be held on Thursday, May 5th, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the Antoinette Hatfield Hall lobby (1111 SW Broadway at Main Street). Visitors are invited to meet the artists while viewing the special exhibition.
